Fit Solutions: My Favourite At-Home Workouts

At-home workouts are the easiest way to get your sweat on.

Gone is the excuse that working out is expensive or inaccessible. You don’t need any expensive gadgets or tools, and you don’t even need to pay those outrageously priced gym fees to get fit. With so many online fitness gurus and trainers out there, creating a fitness routine can be easily done affordably (and in the comforts of your own home).

Even though I’d prefer to do a group fitness class at the gym, working out at home is sometimes easier. Plus in the winter months, it’s sometimes nice to stay indoors.

However, there are a ton of at-home workouts out there so I’ve compiled a list of my favs to get you started:

Workouts Offered: HIIT/Cardio, Strength Training, Yoga

Why I Recommend It: The tone it up workouts would probably be one of my go-to at-home workouts. With their fun/playful attitude, Karena and Katrina really liven up the workouts so that they are almost fun! They offer a seemingly endless workout selection, with monthly workout calendars that you can follow along to. And the beach-vibe feel to many of their videos is an added bonus!

Here are 3 killer workouts that I’ve loved

Total Body Tone Up!

HIITY Bitty Bikini HIIT

Total Body Mermaid Workout

Workouts Offered: Pilates, Cardio

Why I Recommend It: If you enjoy Pilates, then you will enjoy Blogilates workouts. Casey Ho knows how to create workouts that are both fun and challenging. The moves themselves are usually quite simple. But with repetitive moves, you will definitely feel your muscles working. And if you really want to target a specific area, Casey delivers “song challenges” where you can do a specific move for one complete song (and you will really feel the burn afterward).

If you are up for the challenge, here are 3 workouts that I’d recommend

Total Body Pilates Workout

5 Ways to Build your Core & Confidence Workout

Drive By Inner Thighs Challenge

Workouts Offered: Outdoor Running, Treadmill, Elliptical, Indoor Cycling, Stairclimber, Stretching, Yoga, Walking, Meditation

Why I Recommend It: With such a variety of workouts to choose from, Aaptiv is one of my favourite workout apps. It also has workouts for all stages of fitness levels (from beginner-advanced) therefore you can be sure to find one that fits your needs and capabilities. What I really love about Aaptiv, is that you can also filter your workouts options by choosing your difficulty level, length of workout, Aaptiv trainer, and background music. With the Aaptiv trainer motivating you during the workout, the workouts often fly by!

Here are 3 workouts to get you started (workouts are only accessible through the app):

Trolls HIIT The Treadmill: Intermediate HIIT Treadmill workout

Making Compound Moves: Advanced Full Body Strength Training Workout

Tension Release: Beginner Full Body Stretch

Workouts Offered: Strength Training, Cardio, Yoga

Why I Recommend It: Nike Training Club is king when it comes to challenging workouts. The workouts are not easy, and you will definitely work up a good sweat while doing them. So if you are looking for a challenge you should definitely give the Nike Training Club a Try. With the app, it’s easy to create a workout plan geared towards your goals. You can also track your progress and view your workouts for each week. Plus, there are workouts on the app that don’t necessarily require weights so it’s a perfect at-home workout option!

Here are 3 workout suggestions (workouts are only accessible through the app):

Slim Change 2.0: Moderate Intensity/Intermediate 30min workout

Wake Up Warrior: Low Intensity/Intermediate 15min workout

Basic Burner: Low Intensity/Beginner 15min workout

Workouts Offered: Strength Training, Cardio, Yoga

Why I Recommend It: Similar to the Tone It Up and Blogilates workouts, Rebecca Louise delivers fun, challenging workouts that are easily accessible. And most of her workouts require just yourself (with no equipment necessary) so there’s really no excuse not to try them. Plus the best part of her workouts is her featured sidekick Alphie who will often make a cameo!

Here are 3 Rebecca Louise workouts that are definitely worth checking out:

Core Power Yoga – Toned Abs Workout

Best HIIT Cardio Workout

Upper Body Challenge

6) Jillian Michaels

Workouts Offered: Cardio, Strength Training, Yoga

Why I Recommend It:  If anyone knows how to deliver effective workouts, it’s Jillian Michaels. Jillian offers both a subscription service and at-home workout videos for your fitness needs. From the workout’s I’ve done of Jillian’s, I know that Jillian’s aim is to get the most out of the workout. She does not believe in slaying hours at the gym but instead focuses on providing quick and powerful workouts.

If you are looking to add a Jillian Michael’s workout to your collection, here’s 3 to try

Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred

Jillian Michaels: Yoga Meltdown

Jillian Michaels Kickbox Fastfix
